Creating Graphic Images of SWP, SW, and SNB Information

Version: 4.x & 5.x - Scientific WorkPlace, Scientific Word, & Scientific Notebook

You can create a graphic image of selected text and mathematics in your documents and then paste or export that image to another document, even if the target document has been created with a different application. The image you paste or export reflects what you see in the document window.

The selection can extend beyond a single paragraph and can contain both text and mathematics.

You can export the information in a graphics file in one of several formats. Alternatively, you can paste the selection to the clipboard as a Windows Enhanced Metafile (.emf) image and then copy the image into any application that accepts Enhanced Metafile objects. Follow these steps:

  1. Customize the appearance of the information in the document window so that it appears the way you want.

  2. Select the information from which you want to create the image.

  3. If you expect to use the image only once and the graphics format of the image is unimportant, copy the selection to the clipboard:

    1. From the Edit menu, choose Copy Picture.

    2. Open the target document and paste the contents of the clipboard as an .emf graphic where you want it to appear.

    or

If you expect to use the graphic image frequently or you need to use a particular graphics format:

    1. From the File or Context menu, choose Export as Picture.

    2. Enter a name and location for the graphic image.

    3. In the Save as type area, select the graphics format you want to use.

    4. Choose Save.

    5. Open the target document and import the file containing the graphic image.
