ZipMagic conflicts with TrueTeX installation

Version: 3.5 & 3.51 - Scientific WorkPlace & Scientific Word

Problem

During the SWP/SW installation, the TrueTeX installation is silently launched. However, the TrueTeX installation fails when it cannot unzip needed file. The message reads:

CANNOT UNZIP SWP35/TCITex/TrueTex/Install/TrueTex.zip

Explanation

This problem occurs on systems that have ZipMagic from OnTrack Data International installed.

Solution

1. Go to ZipMagic properties (open the ZipMagic properties icon).

2. In the ZipFolders menu, uncheck Show Zips as folders.

3. For extra security, go to the File Associations menu and uncheck the entries Associate ZipMagic with...

4. Close and reboot to be sure that all needed changes are written to the Registry.

5. Install SWP or SW as usual

6. Restore WinZip to its original status.
