Tilde

Version: 2.5 - Scientific WorkPlace & Scientific Word

Q. I use a tilde over a bold math character to denote a reflected vector or tensor, but the tilde prints as an overbar. How can I get the character I want?

A. You've discovered a small bug in our software, which we hope to correct in a future release. In the meantime, we suggest this method of obtaining the character you need:

1. In your Scientific WorkPlace or Scientific Word document, start mathematics.

2. Enter the character you want to bold.

3. Select the character and apply the Bold tag.

4. From the Insert menu, choose Decoration.

   or

   From the Math toolbar, click the Decoration button .

5. Select the tilde decoration at the right end of the top row.

6. Choose OK.
