System crashes during installation

Version: 3.x - Scientific Notebook

During the first phase of the two-phase self-extracting archive installation, system files are unpacked into the temporary directory. Apparently, the temporary files are occasionally corrupted, perhaps because the temporary directory is not set up correctly for Windows. Follow these instructions to correct the problem:

  1. Run SCANDISK on your temporary directory.

  2. Remove as many files as possible from the directory.

  3. Attempt to install again.

You might also try running SCANDISK on the disk on which you want to install Scientific Notebook.

During the second phase, Scientific Notebook is installed on your system. If you had a previous version of the system, the installation program removes all files in the old installation tree before installing the new version. Sometimes, read-only files can't be deleted properly from the old installation tree and the installation fails. To correct the problem, follow these steps:

  1. Move your document files to a different location for safekeeping.

  2. Delete the old installation tree completely.

  3. Reinstall the system.
