Turning off the amsmath, amssymb, and amsfonts packages

Version: 3.0 - Scientific WorkPlace, Scientific Word, & Scientific Notebook

If you're trying to use the YandY Postscript MathTime fonts to produce pdf files, you may want to switch off the use of the amsmath, amssymb, and amsfonts packages in SWP30. These options make the LaTeX file less portable; for example, TechExplorer doesn't understand the amsmath constructs such as {align} and some systems don't have the AMS fonts.

The amsmath package appears in the Typeset/Options and Packages menu, but even if it's deleted, it still appears in the saved file, along with the other two packages.

This is because three lines are inserted automatically near the beginning of the LaTeX file every time you save your document in SWP 3.0, even when you save your document as a portable LaTeX file:

\usepackage{amsmath}

\usepackage{amsfonts}

\usepackage{amssymb}

After you save your document, you can delete the lines by opening the document in an ASCII editor and removing references to the packages. However, please be aware that after these deletions, certain text tag items such as Blackboard Bold and Fraktur, as well as the align environment, will produce compiler warnings and that your document may no longer preview the same as before the deletions.

Be sure to read this information from YandY.
