Originally published in Division on Visual Impairments Quarterly, two articles by Susan Osterhaus, Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired, are now available on our website. The first discusses using Scientific Notebook with Duxbury Systems' DBT WIN to produce mathematics materials in Nemeth Code for blind and visually impaired students. The second discusses Scientific Notebook as a mathematics teaching and learning tool.
If you find the location of the Caps Lock key inconvenient, you can disable the key or remap its function to another location on your keyboard by modifying the Windows registry files. Note that working with the registry files can be risky. You should be very familiar with your Windows operating system before you try to disable or remap the Caps Lock key.
You can suppress the typeset header and footer on individual pages of your document, or you can entirely eliminate the space allotted for printing the headers and footers throughout the document.
We thank David K. Ruch of Metropolitan State College of Denver for his tip for shading regions in plots in Scientific WorkPlace and Scientific Notebook by creating quasi space-filling curves.
Lgrind is a system for including pretty-printed listings of computer code within LaTeX documents. User Philip Viton has produced a version of the lgrind executable that runs under Win32. See his extensive documentation.
