Cross-references and links to multiline displays
Version: 3.5x, 4.x, 5.x - Scientific WorkPlace & Scientific
Word
With keys, you can create cross-references to a whole
multiline display or to each numbered line within the
display. Multiline displays with custom numbering can't have keys.
When you export a document to HTML, use hypertext links to multiline displays
instead of cross-references.
Adding a key for a whole multiline display
-
Select the display.
-
On the Standard toolbar,
click
or,
from the Edit or Context
menu, choose Properties.
-
Choose Advanced.
-
Click Enable Subequation Numbering.
-
In the box labeled Key for Whole Display, enter the key.
-
For each line in the display, check Auto in the
Number area.
-
Choose OK.
Adding a key to a numbered line of a multiline display
-
Select the display.
-
Choose Properties.
-
In the Line Number area, select the number of the line for which you want to
add a key.
If the display is a single equation on multiple lines, select the last line of
the display.
-
In the box labeled Key for this Line, type a key.
-
Choose OK.
In the document window, the key appears in parentheses in the small box
containing the display number. The key doesn't appear when you typeset the
document, but it may appear when you print the document without typesetting,
depending on the print options.
Creating a cross-reference to a multiline display
-
Place the insertion point where you want the reference to appear.
-
The program substitutes only the number of the keyed item, so type the
appropriate identifier (such as Equation) in your text just prior to the
reference.
-
On the Typeset Object toolbar, click
or, from the Insert menu, choose
Typeset Object, and then choose
Cross Reference.
-
Select Object Counter.
-
Enter the key for the whole display or for the line for which you want a
reference.
-
Choose OK.
