Error: Dvigdi32.exe has encountered a problem

Problem

After you typeset preview and attempt to print a document, the program displays the error message:

Dvigdi32.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close.

Explanation

Changing the clock on the computer can interfere with an existing DVI file. This problem frequently occurs after the computer's clock has been changed for Daylight Saving Time.

Solution

Recompile a new DVI file before printing.

1. Reboot your computer.

2. Open your document.

3. Make a trivial change to the document.

4. Save the document.

5. From the Typeset menu, choose Compile.

You should be able to preview and print the document without getting the error message.
