How to reset equation numbers

Version: 2.01 - Scientific WorkPlace & Scientific Word

If you're using automatic equation numbering in your SW document but you occasionally need to insert a custom equation number, the automatic numbering scheme won't pick up again at the correct point unless you reset it with a TeX command. After you've created an equation with a custom number, here's what to do:

  1. Position the insertion point where you want the field.

  2. From the Insert menu, choose Fieldand then choose TeX.

  3. When the TeX Field window opens, check the Encapsulated box.

  4. In the entry area, type \setcounter{equation}{#} where # is the number you want for the next equation. (Alternatively, you can type \stepcounter{equation} to increment the equation counter by one.)

  5. Choose OK.
