How to repair a truncated tex.pool

If SW version 2.01 fails to install Microsoft Win32s, you may get a message about a truncated tex.pool. In addition, your system may freeze up and you may have to reboot. You can solve the problem by changing your config.sys file and then reinstalling Win32s. Follow these steps:

1. Edit the config.sys file:

   1. From a DOS prompt, enter edit c:\config.sys.

   2. On the next available line on the screen, enter install=c:\dos\share.exe.

   3. Save the file.

   4. Exit back to the DOS prompt.

   5. Reboot your computer.

2. Reinstall Win32s:

   1. Insert SW disk #7 (the first of two Win32s disks) in your computer.

   2. Run the setup program.

   3. When the screen message prompts you, insert SW disk #8.

   4. When the screen message prompts you, insert SW disk #7 again.

   5. To verify the correct installation of Win32s, choose to install the card game Freecell.

   6. Use Freecell to make sure that Win32s has been properly installed.

   7. Remove the disk from your drive and restart Windows.

   8. Start SW and test the installation by previewing a document.
