How to modify a style to generate headers containing correct section names

Version: 2.5 - Scientific WorkPlace & Scientific Word

A small bug in the Style Editor generates incorrect page headers when the headers contain section names. Specifically, the header on the last page of a section may reflect the name of the section that begins on the following page.

In the Style Editor, chapters, sections, subsections, etc. are specified as "divisions" of a document. For most Style Editor styles, headers are created based on the name of the division encountered most recently.

To modify the headers in a style, open the style with the Style Editor, then follow these steps:

  1. From the Style Editor Parts menu, choose Division.

  2. Select the division you want to modify.

For example, if chapter headings aren't working properly, choose chapter.

  3. Choose the Page Effectstab.

  4. Check Override Base Page Layout for title page.

  5. Choose Page Layout for Division Title Page.

  6. Choose the Head/Foot Contenttab.

  7. Specify the change you want.

You can find more information about specifying header components in the online Help for the Style Editor.

  8. Choose OK.

  9. Check Override Base Page Layout for subsequent pages.

  10. Choose Page Layout for Division Title Page.

  11. Repeat steps 6–8.

  12. When all modifications are complete, choose OK.

  13. Save and close the style.
