Maple ODE answers

Version: 2.5 - Scientific WorkPlace & Scientific Word

Q. In SW 2.5, I entered the differential equation Math: tx'=xln(tx)-x and then from the Maple menu chose Solve ODE and Exact. Maple returned the solution Math: t=Clnt+cln(x(t)). This answer is correct if you interpret Math: x(t) to mean that Math: x is a function of Math: t. However, Maple interprets Math: x(t) to mean the product of two variables, not to mean that Math: x is a function of Math: t, so all my subsequent calculations on the returned solution were incorrect. How can I get the correct answer to the original equation?

A. When Maple returns the solution Math: t=Clnt+cln(x(t)), highlight Math: x(t), then from the Maple menu choose Define and New Definition. Now, any subsequent calculations will treat Math: x(t) as a function.
