Tcilatex information

Version: 2.5 - Scientific WorkPlace & Scientific Word

Q. I downloaded a new version of tcilatex.tex from the MacKichan Software, Inc. ftp site, but SW doesn't seem to be using it. How do I solve this problem?

A. Tcilatex is a collection of latex macros written by our predecessor, TCI Software Research. These macros provide support for such features as

  • default definitions for the software, most importantly for amslatex constructs

  • our graphics interface

  • bold lowercase Greek letters and certain letters in other languages

  • conversion of documents written in T3, our earlier product

  • formatting for including the time in FAX messages

  • formatting for hypertext links

  • identification of certain Style Editor styles

You must make sure that you have only one copy of tcilatex.tex in the tex\macros directory tree. The version of TrueTeX that is provided with SW 2.5 will recursively search in the tex\macros directory. If it finds more than one copy of a file in the directory tree, it arbitrarily chooses the file to use. Rename the old version of tcilatex.tex before you download the new one.

Also, when you unwrap documents that were wrapped using SW 2.0, be careful not to unwrap style files unless you actually need them. In version 2.0, all style files were in the tex\macros directory.
