Speed up working with documents that contain .eps graphics
Version: 3.x, 4.x, 5.x - Scientific
WorkPlace, Scientific Word, & Scientific Notebook
Working with documents that contain large, PC-produced .eps files can cause
time-consuming delays when you initiate operations that involve scrolling,
such as spell-checking. You may be able to work more quickly if you iconify
the graphic so that it doesn't appear on the screen while you work on your
document.
Follow these instructions to iconify all graphics as they are input:
-
From the Tools menu, choose
User Setup and then choose
Graphics.
-
In the Screen Attributes area, choose
Iconify.
-
Choose OK.
All graphics input using the model settings will be iconified automatically.
Follow these instructions to iconify a single graphic:
-
Select the graphic.
-
From the Edit menu, choose
Properties.
-
In V4.0 or later:
-
Choose the Layout tab.
-
In the Screen Display Attributes section, choose
Iconified.
-
Choose OK.
or
In V3.x:
-
Choose the Frame tab.
-
In the Display options section, choose options for
Screen.
-
In the Options section, choose Iconify.
-
Choose OK.
If you still experience delays after you iconify the .eps graphic, consider
substituting a small sample graphic as a placeholder. A good choice might be
blank.wmf, which you can find in the pictures or graphics folder of your
installation. You can create a caption for the sample graphic that indicates
the name of the correct .eps file:
-
Select the sample graphic.
-
From the Edit menu, choose
Properties.
-
Choose the Labeling tab.
-
In the Caption Text area, enter the name of the .eps graphic that will appear
at this point in your document.
-
Choose OK.
-
When you're ready to print your document, insert the .eps graphics in the
correct location.
