How to change margins

Version: 3.x, 4.x, 5.x - Scientific WorkPlace, Scientific Word, & Scientific Notebook

Document margins are set in two places: in the Page Setup specifications and in the typesetting specifications for the shell you used to create your document. The margins used depend on whether or not you typeset the document.

You can change the margins used when you produce the document without typesetting it. Follow these instructions:

  1. From the File menu, choose Page Setup.

  2. Choose the Margins tab.

  3. Specify the left, right, top and bottom margins you want.

  4. If you want to mirror the margins on even- and odd-numbered pages, check Mirror Margins.

  5. Choose OK.

To change the margins used when you produce the document with typesetting, you need to change the typesetting specifications. We advise against the modification of the typesetting specifications, especially if you're not extremely familiar with TeX and LaTeX. If the shell you used to create your document doesn't provide the margins you need, create a new document with a more appropriate shell.
