How to fit headings into typeset headers

Version: 3.x, 4.x, 5.x - Scientific WorkPlace & Scientific Word

If a heading is too long to fit in the typeset page header, you can define a short heading to use in its place. The short title will appear in the page header and also in the table of contents of your document. This technique works for standard LaTeX typesetting specifications, but may not work for other typesetting specifications.

  1. Place the insertion point at the beginning of the section heading.
  2. Type the short heading enclosed in square brackets.

    The section heading might then look something like this:

    [New Shorter Heading]A Much Longer Heading to Announce This Section of My Document
