How to connect to Mathematica under Windows 3.1 or 3.11
Version: 2.5 - Scientific WorkPlace & Scientific Word
If you're running Scientific WorkPlace 2.5 under Windows 3.1x, we recommend
that you follow these steps to connect to your copy of Mathematica version
2.2.3:
-
Install Mathematica. You must have version 2.2.3 or higher.
-
If Scientific WorkPlace is open, close it.
-
In your Windows directory, find the file named mathlink.ini.
If you do not have these files, please contact our
technical support staff.
-
Make a copy of the file for safekeeping.
-
Modify the file:
-
Open mathlink.ini with an ASCII editor.
-
Find three lines at the beginning of the file similar to these:
[MathLinkProtocols]
Protocol0=D:\WNMATH22\MLLCL`
ProtocolName0=local
-
Make sure the drive and directory listed in the Protocol0 line are correct for
your copy of Mathematica. Do not delete the backprime (`) at the end of the
line.
-
Delete everything else in the file.
-
Save the file as mathlink.ini.
-
Start Scientific WorkPlace.
-
From the Tools menu, choose
User Setupand then choose
Compute.
-
In the Computational Engines area
-
Change the Engine at Startup setting to
Mathematica.
-
Change the Active Engine setting to Mathematica
.
-
In the MathLink Parameters area, change the Protocol entry to
local.
-
Choose OK.
